Dhamma
Sermon and Discussion
"Bringing the Dhamma Alive in Daily Life"
Dear Devotees,
The monthly Dhamma discussion will be held on
Sunday the 22nd of January at 3:30
PM .
We have invited Bhikkhuni Sudhamma for a talk on
"Bringing the Dhamma Alive in Daily Life" followed
by a discussion. This will be a refreshing and
stimulating Dhamma discussion and cordially request
your participation.
Bhikkhuni
Sudhamma grew up in Charlotte, NC. Before
encountering Buddhism, she practiced law in San
Francisco. She was introduced to Buddhism by her
Thai friends. Deeply impressed by the effects of
meditation and even more impressed by the good
qualities of the buddhists, she soon made the Dhamma
the center of her life by participating in
activities at Spirit Rock Meditation Center. In
1997, she decided to leave the home life. In 1999
she “went forth” as a novice under Ven. Bhante
Gunaratana Nayaka Thera at the Bhavana Society in
West Virginia.
In early 2003 Ayya Sudhamma traveled to Sri Lanka,
where she became one of the few American-born women
to gain Theravada bhikkhuni ordination. Currently
she runs Carolina Buddhist Vihara (monastic
residence) in South Carolina.
Agenda is
as follows:
3.30 - Arrival
3.45 - Buddha Pooja
4.00 - Talk
4.45 - Discussion
5.15 - Tea
Blessing of the Triple Gem
Dharmapala Institute.
