Katina
Ceremony
on October 29th at 9:00 AM
Dear Devotees,
Please join us with
your family and friends on this auspicious day as Sam and Kanthi
Hettiarachchi and his family will bestow the Katina robe to the
Maha Sangha. A Katina Dana to mark this special event will be
held at 11:00 AM.
Since participation
in the Katina Ceremony is considered one of the meritorious
deeds one can do, we look forward to your presence. On these
occasions, it is the custom for devotees to offer gifts to the
Temple. The gifts that honor the Katina will be kept under the 'Kap-Ruka'.
Gifts can be anything that you think will be of use for the
maintenance and upkeep of the temple. Any monetary donations
will be greatly appreciated. A wish list for the Buddhist Vihara
will be available at the Temple on Saturday.

Vesak
Program 2005
Dear Devotees,
Lord Buddha's birth, enlightenment and the attainment of
Parinibbana happened on Vesak full moon poya day! This day
is the most scared day for all the buddhists around the
world. Our temple is also planning a full day of religious

There will be a pirith chanting ceremony held on January 1st, 2005 at 6 p.m. at
the temple to bless everyone for the New Year. Ven. Shantha intends to use this
occasion to bring blessings to relieve the distress occurring in Sri Lanka.
I would like to remind those who are planning to give donations to the Disaster
Relief Fund to do so by January 2nd.
Please bring flowers for the Buddha pooja.
We're planning to have snacks and tea afterward. If you can bring some snacks to

Dear all,
Ven. Shantha has arranged to have a pansakula at 6:00 pm today (Monday) for
those who lost their lives from the recent disaster. ABC news has planned to
telecast the event and this will give us a golden opportunity to get the word
out to the general public to increase awareness about our donation plan for the
Mallikarama Sarana Padanama. We would like to have as many people attending the
ceremony. Please be present.
Mr. Suriyakumar has arranged to send clothes to the needy people by air which
will reach Sri Lanka within 72 hours. If you have suitable clothes to be sent to
Sri Lanka, please bring those to the temple (409 S. temple Drive, Milpitas, CA
