Our Sunday School - Daham Pasala

PROGRAM

Dharmapala Institute Daham Pasala is held fortnightly on Sundays between 9:15 am – 11:30 am during the school year at the Dharmapala Institute premises. Please refer to the calendar for the exact dates. Buddhism and Sinhala language is taught in two levels from age 4 1/2 upwards. The minimum age of entry to Daham Pasala is four & half years,

Current list of teachers at the Daham Pasala are:

Ven. Kannedeniye Santha, Kumudini Dharmawardana, Jeewika Ranaweera, Vajiramala Dharmasena, Gnanika & Ravi Wijayaratne, Dishna & Ajith Welihinda, Ganga Welipitiya, Kumari Pathirana

Classes will be preceded by a short period of Dhamma observance in which all parents and adults should participate. Children bring flowers, incense sticks and candles and participate in preparing the offerings. After chanting, the priest tells them a story about the life of the Buddha emphasizing the good, the bad and the moral. Children are encouraged to interact and ask questions.

After the story time, children are divided into two groups according to their age:

Class 1 – Ages 4 ½ and up

Class 2 – Ages 7 and up

 Class 1 : Taught by volunteers
